The Triple-7 Challenge Losers Weepers Edition

I've been nominated to take part in the Triple-7 Challenge given to me by fellow anthology author Danielle Shipley. So I say...

The object of the challenge is to share 7 lines from Page 7 of my manuscript and then tag 7 bloggers. Since 7 is my favorite number, I couldn't pass it up. Therefore, I will be giving you a sneak peak into my short story that will be debuting in Xchyler Publishing’s newest paranormal collection this fall. Its theme is Losers Weepers and my short story is titled "Dead Man Hocking”. Now granted I'm still in the editing stages so I might get an email later to change these lines but for now, here they are...

I had to sell these bodies and fast before something like that happened again. I only hoped it didn’t get any worse. I needed answers.

Lady Luck was no longer with me. I lost favor in her sights, I thought as I dragged myself home, exhausted from mental defeat. Lights were on in the living room when I arrived. My wife, Elle, waited on the couch, her posture stiff and arms crossed.

Now I nominate the following bloggers:

Hope you guys are up for the challenge. If not, that's fine. You can take the time to blog hop and see some interesting excerpts that might pique your interests.

Have a Happy Hump Day!! (totally not being sarcastic)

Cover Reveal! - THE BOOKMINDER by M.K. Wiseman

Happy Cover Reveal Day!! Today's reveal is for M.K. Wiseman's new book THE BOOKMINDER. Even the name is attention catching, right? Just check out the cover and trailer.

Istria, 16th Century A.D.

Sired by magick and violence, sixteen-year-old Liara is found guilty of witchcraft and banished from her tiny village by the very priest who raised, then betrayed her. However, a mysterious mage steps forward to assume custody of her―Nagarath, the Wizard of Parentino, whose secret spellwork has long protected both Liara and Dvigrad from the ravages of war.

Despite Liara’s best hopes, Nagarath refuses to apprentice her to his craft but tasks her instead with the restoration of his neglected library. Liara gleans what magickal knowledge she can on the sly, determined to learn, come what may. But the first test of her stolen knowledge goes awry and renews an evil wizard’s interest in the people of the Limska Draga valley.

Only by tapping Liara’s inherent magick and joining it with his own can Nagarath protect Parentino from suffering a horrible fate. However, her discovery of his secrets destroys their fragile trust and ignites the darker tendencies of her gift. Now, he must rescue her from the influence of his mortal enemy before their powerful new alliance destroys them all.

Oooo!!! Can't wait to read it. More info on its release coming soon.

COVER REVEAL!!!!!!- BEYOND WHAT IS GIVEN by Rebecca Yarros

I'm so happy and excited to reveal the cover for the third book in Rebecca Yarros' Flight and Glory Series. I've read her first two books (Full Measures and Eyes Turned Skyward) and let me just tell you that both tug on the heartstrings in a emotional and yet wonderful way. There's a true beauty in her writing that just leaps off the page and warms your heart. I doubt any one who reads these books would be able to keep their eyes dry or their faces straight. Seriously, they should've included a warning on the books. Something like "Warning. The following books tend to bring out intense reactions such as..."

AND/OR

But it's worth it. Although based on the little teaser I received which I put below, I think her newest book "BEYOND WHAT IS GIVEN" is going to be extremely spicy. I'm so looking forward to it though it's painstakingly taking its time to come. Where's a time machine when I need one?

But today I'm somewhat pacified. I opened my email and received this awesome cover that made my day. As I told Rebecca, it made me want to pet my computer. Almost did but since I was at work and all, I didn't want to seem like a creeper. I hope you all will feel the same. So I'll stop rambling and gushing over this amazing series and let you judge for yourself. And make sure to read all the way through to the end for a chance to enter the giveaway below. So, ladies and gents. I present to you....

 New Adult

 Entangled: Embrace Publishing

Release Date: September 29, 2015

Kyaa!!! A little over seven weeks until it comes into the world. Can't wait. Here's why:

Synopsis

Lt. Grayson Masters is focused on graduating the Apache helicopter course, and the last thing he needs is his gorgeous new roommate Samantha Fitzgerald distracting him. While her smart mouth and free spirit are irresistibly irritating, he can’t deny their off-the-charts chemistry, no matter how hard he tries.

Having just been expelled from college, Sam has no business digging for Grayson’s secrets while she’s hiding her own, but that doesn’t stop her from trying to tear down his walls. Each barrier she busts through drops one of her own, though, and she’s not prepared for the truth: another woman laid claim to Grayson’s heart long ago.

Falling in love is something neither Grayson nor Sam can afford, and when that line is crossed and secrets are exposed, they’ll learn that sometimes it’s the answered prayers that will put you through hell.

Rebecca Yarros Bio

Rebecca Yarros is a hopeless romantic and lover of all things chocolate, coffee, and Paleo. In addition to being a mom, military wife, and blogger, she can never choose between Young Adult and New Adult fiction, so she writes both. She's a graduate of Troy University, where she studied European history and English, but still holds out hope for an acceptance letter to Hogwarts. Her blog, The Only Girl Among Boys, has been voted the Top Military Mom Blog the last two years, and celebrates the complex issues surrounding the military life she adores. When she's not writing, she's tying on hockey skates for her kids, or sneaking in some guitar time. She is madly in love with her army-aviator husband of eleven years, and they're currently stationed in Upstate NY with their gaggle of rambunctious kiddos and snoring English Bulldog, but she would always rather be home in Colorado.

Forte Book Release Tour

Congratulations to author J.D. Spero on her newest book, FORTE, that was released July 25. In honor of that amazing feat, we have conducted a Book Release Tour. Find out more about the author and her novel below as well as enter for a chance to win an awesome prize.

Pre-Order link:

Johannah Davies (JD) Spero was born near a pristine lake in the Adirondacks and has lived in various cities such as St. Petersburg (Russia), Indianapolis, Dallas, and Boston. She has pursued her love of narrative through degrees in English, Russian, and teaching—and has worked as an actress, a yoga instructor, a web design entrepreneur, freelance writer, and a high school English teacher. She lives in the Northeast with her husband and three young sons.

Drawing on her experience as a high school teacher—this time with a social concern, Spero infuses the rites of passage for the teenager—cliques, first kisses, peer pressure, and bullying—with magic. This stresses how tenuous and critical this time is for young people in a new, fascinating way. Written from Sami’s point of view, Spero’s narrative puts the reader into the mind of a fifteen-year-old who must navigate the tumultuous waters of being the new girl—the underdog who starts to win and is intoxicated by it. Truly a page-turner, this action-packed story will have readers of all ages eager to see what happens next.

Spero’s debut novel, Catcher’s Keeper, was chosen as a Finalist in the 2014 Indie Excellence Book Awards contest and also made the top 5% out of 10,000 entries in the 2013 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award.
